Reviews
School Library JournalEllie Anders is an unexceptional child. She keeps to herself, has only one good friend, and avoids the spotlight as much as she can. When given a class project—to talk about the most important person in her life—Ellie blanks. Not only does she struggle narrowing the few people in her life down to the one who is most important, she dreads presenting her project to the class. Each of the chapters focus on an important individual in Ellie’s life. Readers are drawn into the story trying to guess who Ellie will choose for her presentation. The simple illustrations throughout the book nicely complement the gentle tale. VERDICT A good story for children transitioning from easy reader books to chapter books, and a solid recommendation for shy or introverted young readers.
Midwest Book Review—A warm, humorous story with engaging characters that introduces valuable life lessons to children 5 10 years old. The Ellie Anders book series helps parents and teachers engage children with valuable life lessons including building self-confidence; valuing friendship and family; appreciating a community; not following the crowd, making responsible choices; taking pride in what we do; and doing well in school. A wonderfully entertaining story that will have particular appeal for children ages 5 to 10, “Ellie Anders: The Impossible School Project” is an especially recommended addition to family, elementary school, and community library general fiction collections.
